split_type()[source]

The splitting axis/strategy used by the time series splitter.

• String name: "split_type"

• Public property tag

• Values: str, subset of "temporal", "instance"

• Example: "temporal"

• Default: "temporal"

This tag applies to time series splitters ("splitter" type) only.

The tag describes the fundamental axis along which the splitter operates:

• "temporal": the splitter splits observations along the time dimension, for instance in expanding window or rolling window time series splits.

• "instance": the splitter splits by individual series or instance identity in panel and hierarchical time series datasets.
